In Krisenzeiten ist es entscheidend, an welchen Figuren wir uns orientieren: an Stimmen, die propagieren, sichere Mittel zur raschen Heilung zu kennen, oder an Figuren, welche die Situation untersuchen und forschend die Wahrheit zu verstehen suchen. Letzteres ist die Grundhaltung, mit welcher Psychoanalytiker ihre Patienten behandeln, wobei sie durchaus auch Erfahrungen mit Versuchungen durch rasche Heilung versprechende Stimmen machen. W. Loch, der erste Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Psychoanalyse an einer Medizinischen Fakultät nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, erläuterte in einem Vortrag vor knapp 50 Jahren die Rollen des Analytikers als Gesetzgeber und Lehrer, Pfleger und Forscher. In ihrer Wolfgang-Loch-Vorlesung würdigt C. Frank diese Rollen, arbeitet am Beispiel einer Ausbildungsanalyse klinische Unterschiede heraus und legt mit Hilfe von Vignetten aus der Corona-Zeit dar, wie diese Rollen aufgrund des heutigen Wissens über frühödipale Verfassungen um eine etwas andere Konzeption ergänzt werden sollten.

In times of crisis, the (internal and external) figures we take our bearings from are of fundamental significance. Do we trust in those who claim to know of safe and certain remedies promising swift recovery? Or do we throw in our lot with those who investigate the situation with a view to understanding the underlying truth? The latter attitude is the basic approach with which psychoanalysts treat their patients, although they too have ample experience of the temptations held out by promises of quick success. Almost 50 years ago, Wolfgang Loch, the first holder after the Second World War of a psychoanalytic chair at a German Medical Faculty, delivered a lecture in which he described the roles of the analyst as lawgiver and teacher, carer and researcher. In her commemorative lecture on Wolfgang Loch, Claudia Frank reviews these roles and enlarges on clinical differences with reference to the example of a training analysis. Subsequently, she draws on case vignettes from the corona­virus pandemic to indicate how, on the basis of our present-day knowledge of early oedipal dispositions, these roles need to be supplemented by a somewhat different conception of the issues involved.

En temps de crise, il est essentiel de savoir quels modèles — intérieurs et extérieurs — nous servent de repères : ceux qui propagent des moyens sûrs et connus pour parvenir à une guérison rapide, ou ceux qui enquêtent sur la situation et cherchent à comprendre la vérité par le biais de l’investigation. Ce dernier modèle est l’attitude de base avec laquelle les psychanalystes traitent leurs patients, qui sont certainement aussi tentés par des voix promettant une guérison rapide. Wolfgang Loch, le premier titulaire de la chaire de psychanalyse dans une faculté de médecine après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, a décrit dans une conférence donnée il y a près de 50 ans les rôles de l’analyste en tant que législateur et enseignant, thérapeute et chercheur. Dans une conférence en hommage à Wolfgang Loch, Claudia Frank souligne l’intérêt de ces rôles, développe les différences cliniques grâce à l’exemple d’une analyse menée dans le cadre d’une formation et, à l’aide de vignettes de la période Corona, suggère comment ces rôles devraient être complétés par une conception quelque peu différente basée sur ce que nous savons maintenant des premières constitutions préœdipiennes.
